This Privacy Policy explains how Adjacent ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and services.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: your name and profile picture, which you provide when you set up your profile.
- Location data: with your permission, we collect your device's location so we can show your proximity to friends and your partner in an orbit. You can stop sharing at any time.
- Device and usage data: basic device information, notification tokens, and app usage to operate and improve the service.
- Purchase data: when you subscribe to Adjacent Pro, payments are handled by Google Play. We do not store your payment card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To show your proximity to friends and your partner within orbits you join.
- To deliver features such as couple sync, moods, tickles, notes, alarms and moments.
- To send push notifications you have opted into (e.g. inner-orbit alerts, partner updates, friendly reminders).
- To process subscriptions and provide customer support.
3. Location Sharing
Adjacent shares your location only with people you are explicitly connected to: members of your orbits and your paired partner. You can control location sharing per orbit, hide your location, or turn it off entirely at any time from the Settings screen. When background ("Allow all the time") location is enabled, we may collect your location even when the app is not open so your proximity stays up to date. You can disable background location in your device settings or in the app.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Service providers that help us operate the app, such as Supabase (database and authentication), Google (push notifications via Firebase), and RevenueCat (subscription management).
- Your connections �your orbit members and partner see your proximity, name and profile picture, exactly as you have configured.
- Legal requirements �when required by law or to protect our rights.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. Location history, moments and related data are kept to power your experience and are removed when you delete your account or when you clear your history in the app.
6. Your Choices and Controls
- You can control location sharing, background location, and notification preferences from the Settings screen.
- You can edit your profile name and picture at any time.
- You can delete your account and all associated data at any time �see Delete Account.
7. Children's Privacy
Adjacent is not intended for children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls on our services.
